THE RED ZONE AFTER SCHOOL PROGRAM

PURPOSE: The goal of this program is to help develop your child in four areas: character, conditioning, commitment and connecting in their community.

PLAN: Pastor Joe Oswald of Compass Bible Church in Youngtown will use fun, fitness and fundamentals in various skills and games to develop a balanced child who will learn to be a productive citizen in society. Joe has coached children for over 13 years in various settings. He worked for Athletes in Training and volunteered for the YMCA. Coach John Honer assists with the program. John is an active Deacon at Compass and has coached baseball in Surprise for several years now.

HIGHLIGHTS:

  • Your child will learn the wonder of water, eating healthy, and exercise tips for becoming a truly healthy and balanced person.
  •  Your child will learn the value of teamwork and getting along with others.
  •  Your child will learn how to develop coordination in throwing, catching, stretching, running etc…
  •  Your child will play fun modified games that use various skills related to soccer, football, baseball, basketball, kickball and dodge ball.

OVERVIEW OF CHARACTER DEVELOPMENT

October—We will learn the value of being TRUSTWORTHY

November—We will learn about RESPECT

December—We will focus on the importance of CARING

January—We will discuss the importance of RESPONSIBILITY

February—We will discuss the importance of FAIRNESS

March—We will learn the value of CITIZENSHIP

April—We will explore the need for COMMITMENT

May—We will cover the great importance of our ATTITUDE

WHEN: We will meet on Thursdays from 4:30—6:00 pm starting this coming October 6th and end on May 17th 2012.

HOW MUCH? This program is absolutely free. We just ask for commitment on the part of the parents and children to faithfully attend and help out as needed.
